How Many Chemical Peels Will I Need?

Depending on the issue, a series of 4-6 chemical peels are recommended followed by seasonal maintenance for best results.

Is there any downtime with a chemical peel?

Depending on the type of chemical peel there can be downtime. An intense peel can have a week or more of downtime (redness, peeling) whereas a more gentle peel as no downtime whatsoever and can be done prior to a social event.

What do I need to do before a chemical peel?

Each Chemical Peel treatment is finished with light extractions if needed, a soothing facial mask, and LED therapy. During chemical peels, various acid solutions are applied to the skin to break the connections between skin cells.

Peels can be superficial to exfoliate the uppermost layer of skin or deeper to improve pigmentation and skin texture. Peels are great first-line treatments for many conditions and great maintenance in between other treatments. Depending on the type of peel, recovery time can range from minimal with no real “peeling” to a few days of mild redness and exfoliation. Patients generally see improved skin tone and texture with each treatment.
